When you have an allergy to hair dye,how long does it take for the allergy to subside.?

I mean do you have to wait until the dyed hair has grown out and been cut off, for the allergic reaction to subside, or what? And are there any treatments to use on the facial eczema to help heal the skin without worsening the problem. I have been dying my hair for a few years {getting grayer all the time} I am a natural brunette, but was lightening more all the time and had no problems {loved all the blond highlights} But the new girl changed something because my scalp burned so bad when I got home that i made a baking soda rinse to try and neutralize the bleach {it worked and instantly cooled the pain}But now everytime she dyes my hair I get a horrible itchy rash on my face, not a pretty site I assure you, it is very distressing and irritating for sure.

Hi there,

Wow, that's a pain. First, call your doctor, she/he can prescribe a cream for the facial breakout. There isn't much over the counter that will help, especially as your face is very sensative. Second, I would take something like Benadryl today to stop the iching, but it won't go away completely. Again, talk with the doctor if this doesn't help.

But you can't keep using that dye. You are allergic to something in it and it will just get worse each time you use it. Let the hairdresser know and go back to the old hair dye you used without problems. As for cutting off your hair, I doubt you'll need to, it will just be a few days/week to get the dye off your scalp and it should stop bothering you. But try to find out what you are allergic to so that you can avoid it in the future.
