I was growing good and was 5'7 at the beginning of 10th grade. I was supposed to be 5-10 to 5-11 I had like 15 hairs on my chin that grew fast. Then i didn't grow any the next 2 years and the facial hair started to not come back after shaving. Now i am 18 and have no facial hair and am not any taller. WTF is wrong with me.

Sounds like you are going through the final stages of puberty. How tall are some of the people in your Dad's and Mom's side of family? That could be some of the answer's to this question. The guy Im with at the moment has a plucking thing. He likes to have his facial hair plucked/tweezed. He gets a small lamp just about every night and puts it right by his face or my face and wants me to pluck his facial hair Mostly his Beard and under his chin. Then he is obsessed with finding hair on me to pluck. WTF? Have you ever herd of this? Please be serious I know you guys want to beat this up by being funny or rude but please be serious.

Upper Lip Help?

For most of my life, I had been bleaching the hairs on my upper lip. I am a brunette, so they were noticable if they werent bleached.

After awhile though, I began to become self-concious about people noticing the hairs. I felt as if they were kind of long and thick.

So I used a depiliatory cream to remove them. It worked, but ended up giving me burns. Next, I started to pluck. That was too time consuming and I ended up with hairs that wouldnt break the surface, but instead, stay underneath. But you could still see them. Waxing makes me very irratated and have small breakouts. Laser and Electrolosis are not going to work. They make ur upper lip rough for a little while. Finally, I was told by my hairdresser to use those little facial hair shavers that you see on the TV. So I did, but now its giving me stuble and stuff.

SO...

I'm thinking that maybe just letting the hairs grow back and bleaching them might be the best idea. Everyone says that they werent noticable. Any advice?

Upper Lip Help?

Electrolysis would be the best answer-it doesn't make your skin rough, but it can give tiny scabs where the follicle was treated. Seriously, you can have shorter treatment times and work at it a little at a time. And when I say scabs, I mean TINY ones-they pretty much come off the next day when you wash your face. Never had laser done, so I don't know much about that other then that they don't recommend it for people who have darker skin because they can scar easily.

Yes, I think it's highly possible that you could grow an inch, however, it probably won't be within a short amount of time, since you seem to have passed up your rapid growth spurt. However, it is still quite possible for you to have grown an inch or two more by your 21st birthday because while your growth is starting to "plateau" or "level off," it is doing so in a curved manner like a pool gradually dropping off to 8 feet. So while you may not gain that inch by the end of this year, it may very well come in over the next two or three years.

The excess facial and body hair is caused by an increase in testosterone. Sadly, there aren't any immediate creams or pills to stop the production of hair growth, all they can do is SLOW the growth after a few months of use, and it can take up to 6 months to see any results. I recommend plucking or waxing, that's all that's ever worked for me.

Increased levels of testosterone are a sure sign of PCOS, but sometimes women that don't have PCOS have high levels as well. Irregular periods are also a good way for doctors to be able to tell. However, they don't take just one or two symptoms, they take multiple symptoms and compile they together inorder to diagnose you with PCOS.

Do you have insulin resistance? A lot of weight around the middle? Acne? High blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure? Infertility? Dandruff? The symptoms list goes on and on but the most important one is irregular periods and infertility. Sometimes there are ovarian cysts, but that's not a definite sign of PCOS. A lot of women get cysts that don't have PCOS and a lot of women with PCOS will never get cysts, so it's not a definitive factor.

The only way to know for sure is to talk to your doctor. Print out a page about PCOS on webmd and show it to your primary care physician or gynecologist and tell them your suspicions.

Basically I am getting a new haircut soon but ussually I always get a it done very badly. The thing I hate most about my long hair is having it blow in the wind and having to take a shower for it to look normal. When they ask for a clipper number, it refers to the guard on the razor they use to cut your hair. It determines how much hair is left once they've cut it. For example, most guards use similar size guards such as 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1" guards. Your best bet is to print that picture and take it to your barber. Since your hair isn't very thick as you say, you may want a higher guard number. Hope that helps a little.

This is embaressing, but I have such a big problem with facial hair. I pluck hairs out of my chin almost everyday and hairs are always popping up on my cheeks. They are not there one day and then out of nowhere a hair just appears on my cheek. I also get hairs on my neck. I can't even see them to pluck, but I can feel them. I tried electrolysis before for parts of my face, but I went for a few months and it just didn't work...I didn't notice that much change. Also, I know there is laser surgury, but not sure if I can afford it. I am 33 and have dealt with this since I was a teen, but it seems to get worse when I get older. I know it is common for hair to appear on upper lips...but what about chin, cheeks, and neck? Is there something wrong with me? Sometimes I think that maybe I should have been a man?

Hold on to looking younger than your years - you'll bless that gift a bit later on. My husband grew a beard because everyone thought he was a lot younger than his actual age but now at 74 he's really chuffed when people ask him where he works?

As for height - it's no big deal being very tall. My daughter had big problems finding a good choice of clothes and shoes for tall girls which were within her budget.

I reckon you'll get over 5' 10" in the next few years.

ok, my mom and I have tried many many things to get rid of our facial hair (on the face) COMPLETELY, but nothing seemed to work. When i say completely i mean you go for a visist a couple of times and the hair willl never come back.

in sharper image. theres this cool thing called a PERMANT HAIR REMOVER. and i guess it works. or you can get it surgically removed. by a lazer. the lazer burns the hair and closes the pore so the hair doesn't grow anymore...i think. i don't know for sure. but im guessing it hurts for every piece of hair (like a pinch).

remember hair protects you from bad bacteria. so you shouldn't get rid of it permently. you should just shave or wax.:)

I kinda know what you mean. I am not exactly blond myself but am dishwater blond (which is light brownish blond) and it usually takes me some growth time before I feel the beard get established in a purely visual sense. I wouldn't figure this idea you have of not being able to grow instantly noticeable facial hair a big issue. Just grow it for a longer amount of time than you are accustomed to waiting.

Sounds like you are going through the final stages of puberty. How tall are some of the people in your Dad's and Mom's side of family? That could be some of the answer's to this question. So many things determine our genetics. However, 5'10" is normal, unless everyone else in your family is tall. Even then, no health problem may exist. You would be extremely happy over not having any facial hair after you had shaved every day, sometimes twice a day for 20 plus years. Newayz, I shave w/ the grain like ur supposed to but that doesn't do much. After I shave w/ the grain I shave against it (yes, I know its bad... but thats the best method 4 me...) that gets the remaining hair, but not totally still... I used to shave w/ the grain first, idk if that could've made my facial hair impossible to shave down smooth.

The Mach III is an excellent choice. Shaving with or against the grain is personal choice - it is more irritating to shave against, but you are right, it is a closer shave. Hair removal products are usually a BAD idea for the face... but I don't know enough about that...

Electric razors will (IMHO) never get as close as a Mach III or similar... they just can't do it...

Shaving cream is VERY important. I always used to use Barbasol or other standard cheap cans but a friend gave me some "Clarins for Men" shaving cream - it made a WORLD of DIFFERENCE! (usually found in Macy's or other mid to high level department stores in among the woman's perfume/makeup departments). I won't use anything else now (although there are similar higher quality products out there). It is $10 a can, but you use so little it last a LONG time... It is worth the extra cash. Plus, with any cream, wet your face first and the longer you leave it on (well, within reason - you don't want it to dry out ;) the closer the shave will be - it softens up the hair. Also, shave AFTER walking around a bit in the morn - shaving right out of bed is a bad idea - your face puffs up some at night and the hairs don't stick out as much until you've been up for a while.

I am not gay (not that there is anything wrong with that ;) and am not a cosmetic product kind of guy, but this shaving cream ROCKS!
